Located in Ottawa, Ontario the National Capital Section provides local IESNA members with an array of services,

programs and events. First chartered as a Chapter of the Society in 1943, the section actively promotes quality in lighting design and offers members and the community access to excellent educational programs, including the ED series courses developed by the Society.

Among the section's regular activities and events are:

  • Monthly program luncheon meetings featuring a guest speaker presentation.
  • Courses in lighting education including
    • ED-100 Lighting Fundamentals
    • ED-150 Intermediate Lighting
    • Various half-day seminars on specific lighting topics
    • Hosting of Web-based "virtual seminars" provided by the Society
  • Annual Golf Tournament (usually held in May of each year)

In addition, the National Capital Section actively seeks entries for the annual International Illumination Design Awards (IIDA), and provides its members with access to a lighting library containing all of the Society's publications as well as other relevent books related to lighting.
